Our Approach to Mental Wellbeing
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is a brief, evidence-based psychotherapy that integrates techniques from various therapeutic approaches to address trauma and other psychological stressors. By utilizing rapid eye movements and image rescripting, ART aims to recondition how distressing memories are stored in the brain, thereby reducing their emotional impact. This process allows individuals to process traumatic experiences without the need to verbalize specific details, offering a non-invasive path to healing. Typically, ART can lead to significant improvements in conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, and depression, often within one to five sessions. By transforming negative images associated with traumatic memories into positive ones, ART empowers individuals to alleviate suffering and enhance their overall quality of life.
ART + Financial Therapy
Integrating Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) with financial therapy offers a comprehensive approach to addressing the emotional and psychological aspects of financial stress. ART's techniques, such as rapid eye movements and imagery rescripting, facilitate the reprocessing of distressing memories, enabling individuals to alleviate anxiety and trauma associated with financial challenges. This integration empowers clients to make more informed financial decisions, aligning their behaviors with their authentic feelings and reducing the impact of past financial traumas on current financial well-being.
What to expect
-
Click on the button to schedule your free 20- minute consultation. I will reach out within 24 hours with some time options. The phone call will focus on understanding your concerns/needs and to see if we are a good fit.
-
In the initial Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) session, we will conduct a comprehensive intake to understand your concerns and determine the suitability of ART for your specific issues.
We will then explain the ART process, emphasizing that it involves eye movements similar to those used in other therapies and that you are not required to verbalize details of your traumatic experiences.
Once consent is gained, your therapist guides you to identify a distressing memory to focus on, referred to as a "scene." You will then follow the therapist's hand movements with their eyes while visualizing this scene, a process designed to facilitate relaxation and desensitization to the traumatic memory. This session typically lasts between 60 to 90 minutes, during which your therapist may assist you in reimagining the distressing memory with positive imagery, aiming to reduce its emotional impact.

In our therapeutic approach, we begin with Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) during the initial sessions to swiftly address and alleviate emotional blockages, such as trauma and anxiety, by reprogramming how distressing memories are stored in the brain. Once these obstacles are mitigated, we transition to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to enhance psychological flexibility and commitment to personal values, and/or Financial Therapy to address financial stressors and promote financial well-being. This integrated methodology ensures a comprehensive treatment plan tailored to your unique needs.
-
Between Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) sessions, it's beneficial to engage in activities that promote relaxation and emotional processing. Here are some recommendations:
Prioritize Rest: After an ART session, your brain continues to process the therapeutic work. Ensure you get adequate sleep to support this ongoing healing process.
Engage in Gentle Physical Activity: Activities like yoga, stretching, or leisurely walks can enhance bodily awareness and further the integration of therapeutic gains.
Explore Creative Outlets: Engaging in creative endeavors such as drawing, writing, or playing music can facilitate emotional expression and processing.
Notably, ART does not typically require homework assignments between sessions, allowing you to focus on these self-care practices to support your therapeutic journey.
