Hi, my name is Mariah Hudler and I received my Masters of Social Work from the University of California, Berkeley in 2004 and am a licensed clinical social worker in CA (2015, #65613 ). I completed my BA in Sociology from the University of California, San Diego and my Executive MBA from the University of Waikato in New Zealand.
Financial therapy pairs my clinical expertise with my long-time interest and work in the financial arena, specifically, understanding the why of finances and how finances can be a tool to freedom and choice rather than a mental and emotional burden.
Living a life congruent with financial health is very important to me. I have been there where I have had nothing and had to start over again and again, change my ways and change my thinking. After many years of carrying student loan debt, I paid them off in 2016 and have been steadily working towards financial independence. Each of us is on our own financial journey that should be reflected on to identify our history and values and how they drive our current day life, especially if you want to make a change. This site, through its blog page, will provide stories about my journey as well as articles, information, education, and tools for your reflection or application.
About me professionally – the majority of my clinical work has been in the medical setting where I support patients and families through an adjustment to illness. It is a privilege to walk along with someone in a time of extreme stress and provide them with listening, support, guidance, and education. Although I work with people whose medical needs have brought them to my service, I also help them to manage the impact of a medical admission or diagnosis on their financial life.
Prior to getting my license, my desire to serve, and, love of people and places brought me to live and work in a number of countries including Ireland, Ecuador, and New Zealand. My work ranged from teaching high school and adults basic business education in Ecuador to working as a medical social worker, a project manager in health and a director in education in New Zealand. The world is truly our oyster.
I love the diversity that people, finances, and therapy bring together. I look forward to working with you or your business to provide growth, strength, and peace in financial health.
As your financial therapist, I am easily engageable and will move you through the getting to know you and your financial story to promptly setting and achieving your goals.
